Birthday Card College Scholarship
I’m really excited about this college scholarship from DoSomething.Org: A birthday card college scholarship!
It is the $10,000 Everyone Deserves a Birthday Scholarship and is open to U.S. and Canadian residents who are 26 years old and younger. The great thing about this scholarship is that it is a wonderful opportunity for younger students to get involved and start thinking about how they can help finance their college education, while doing something good for others at the same time. Did you know that September is the most common birthday month? This scholarship requires students to make birthday cards, which will be sent to homeless shelters and given to children all throughout the year. Here are the details:
- Students make handmade birthday cards, leaving the inside blank
- Students take pictures of the cards
- Cards are mailed to the address provided in the scholarship guidelines
- Students submit pictures of the cards, every 2 cards equals one entry into the $10,000 drawing
- The deadline is October 17
Find the address and link to submit birthday cards here:
Winning Tips: Yes, this is a scholarship drawing, but lots of entries can be made if students make lots of cards. There is NO limit to the amount of cards created and submitted. I see this as a great opportunity for scout groups, youth groups, National Honor Societies, and any other group of young people that would like to get together and create birthday cards knowing they are doing something kind for others. Similar to scholarship parties (read about them here), getting groups of kids together is fun, productive, and does not seem like work. Parents and students, get out your glitter, construction paper, stickers, and markers and have a blast with this scholarship!
