5 Dazzling Graduation Gifts Students Will Adore
Grad season is here, and parents are scrambling to find fun graduation gifts that will be loved and appreciated by the students receiving them. Sound familiar?
It’s high school and college graduation time!
As a mom of a current college student and two college graduates, I am very familiar with the abundance of graduation partyย invites and announcements that arrive this time of year. I’m breaking tradition from my normal posts about helping students win college scholarships today to help out my fellow parents who are wondering,
WHAT KIND OF GRADUATION GIFTS SHOULD I GIVE?
Let me make this easy for you. Here are 5 graduation gift ideas that are sure to dazzle any recent or upcoming graduate:
A check in the amount of the year:ย For example, in 2023 the amount would be $20.23. Kids LOVE this idea and parents with a ton of parties to attend and gifts to give appreciate the simplicity, yet uniqueness, of this fun graduation gift. Take this a step further and tuck a twenty-dollar bill and 23 cents in change into a cute wristlet or snazzy wallet.

A gift card to the bookstore for the college the student will be attending:ย This was one of my middle son’s all-time favorite graduation gifts. Simply Google the name of the university along with “gift card” or “bookstore” and easy ordering directions will be found. (Another fun gift card idea is Uber or Lyft!)
University spirit wear:ย College students adore wearing shirts and hoodies representing their school, even before they start attending. Give your grad a jump start, and you will be the coolest parent at the party!
$$$$:ย Yes, money. Grads have needs and if you are unsure of what to send or just want a quick, no-brainer graduation gift, a check or cash is ALWAYS appreciated.
Dorm items for the student moving to college:ย Help out in a fun way by gifting your grad with helpful products they may not think about when packing to leave for college in the fall. Not sure what they already have or still need? Amazon gift cards work too!

Great ideas Monica!! I remember getting a backpack for my graduation and thinking what am I going to do with this! Ha—I used it all 4 years!!
We usually go with a Target gc, but I like the Amazon thought too!!
Jodie
Thanks, Jodie! That must have been a well-made backpack. I love Amazon for grad gifts because students can take advantage of free shipping and a discounted or free Prime membership (details here). ๐
Some gifts from yesteryear just don’t translate as well. I was given a watch when I graduated high school. Not something that is much needed these days with cell phones. I love the idea of giving the $amount of the year.
Good point, Jennifer. I love the amount of the year idea gift idea too and am using it for my very next grad gift. ๐
These are lovely ideas. Love the bookstore card idea!
Thanks! A good friend of mine send a gift card for the college my son was going to attend as a graduation gift. She gets the credit for that idea! ๐
This is perfect. I have some gifts to buy and was searching online just the other day!
Glad I could help. Thanks for reading, Carol! ๐
These are some awesome ideas! I love the one with writing the check for the year.
Thank you, Stacey! The check idea is so clever, isn’t it? ๐
The bunk buddy tray is very useful! My dorm bed was right next to the door so no room for any kind of little table, box, or anything. The tray would’ve worked great to prevent drinks from getting tipped over! Thanks for the tips!
That Bunk Buddy is something I would have loved in my college dorm room. Thanks, Sharon!
How clever and creative. I love the year/check idea, so cute. College bookstore gift cards–genius! Great ideas, Monica!
Thanks so much, Lee! Grad season can be hard with so many gift choices. ๐
What wonderful ideas!
Thank you, Mandi! ๐
