College Scholarship Tip: Don’t Overlook Club Scholarships
Club scholarships are a great scholarship resource that many students overlook because of preconceived notions about who is eligible to apply.
Are you or your student eligible?
[2023 Edition]
A myth about club scholarships is that students or their family members need to belong to these clubs in order to be eligible to apply for their scholarships.
While this is true for some club scholarships, it is not a requirement for many others.
An example would be the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship which states,
“Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply. Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.”
Many club organizations value higher education and should always be checked into for scholarship possibilities.
The fine print and/or FAQ sections in the scholarship guidelines will clearly state if a student or family member needs to be a member in order to be eligible to apply, and the few extra minutes it takes to check these details may be worth thousands of dollars in scholarship money.
Don’t miss out on scholarships offered by clubs, either national or local.

Hi Monica,
Do you know of any niche scholarships for my daughter who lost her dad in a car accident 10 years ago and her brother to homicide 6 years ago? It’s been a tough few years for us. My Google search is pulling up some but most sites are outdated and when we inquire about them and we are told they no longer offer the scholarships. Thanks.
Hi Victoria, I am so very sorry for your loss. Have you seen these scholarships? https://how2winscholarships.com/scholarships-for-students-with-deceased-parents/
