College Scholarship Tip: Small Steps Produce BIG Results
This college scholarship tip helps with feeling overwhelmed when students are trying to win money for school. Learn how to break down college scholarship applying into smaller, workable parts.
The very best advice I can give to cut down on scholarship anxiety is to take each part of the scholarship application and break it down into smaller, more workable, and less daunting parts.
- Decide on a certain amount of time to be spent on scholarship work each day
- Search for scholarships, adding to your list daily
- Focus on one scholarship at a time
- Fill out the application
- Brainstorm ideas for the essay
- Write the essay
- Gather all required documents
- Proofread all parts of the application
- Mail in or upload all materials specified in the guidelines
- Cross that scholarship off of your list and move on to the next one
Do the math:
Even 15 minutes a day of scholarship work adds up to 105 minutes a week, which is 420 minutes a month!Learn how little college scholarship steps can lead to BIG results! Click To Tweet
Parents working with students can easily double this time and twice as many scholarship applications can be found and submitted.
This parent says it best:
“My son accepted a scholarship tonight from the local Rotary Club. He was one of 4 students receiving a scholarship. (A $2,000 scholarship renewable for 4 years for a total of $8,000) The announcer commented to the crowd that my son’s scholarship application was the “neatest” package he had ever seen in his 20 years of heading the scholarship committee. While my son had a good essay, and achievements to report, it was obvious that the presentation of the materials made a positive impact.
Thank you, Monica Matthews, of How to Win College Scholarships, for the great advice and tips! The small investment I made in buying her ebook truly helped. This is the 4th scholarship my son has won and they all add up! I post this information to encourage parents that scholarships are available and if you are going to apply, apply smart!” S.M.
