College Scholarship Tip: Spring into Scholarships

Use this SMART scholarship tip and find more ways to win money for school!

Happy Spring!

There are so many spring college scholarship deadlines for students to meet this time of year. Many of these are found in local scholarships.

Local scholarships have less competition and should never be skipped.

HOT TIP:  Don’t just stick to the scholarship list provided by your local high school.

Here are some places to look when searching for local businesses or organizations that offer scholarship money to area students:

• Banks
• Credit Unions
• Clubs (Lions, Masons, Elks, American Legion, Rotary, Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Eagles, etc.)
• Places of worship
• Department stores
• Engineering firms
• Restaurants
• Community Foundations
• Fire Departments
• Hospitals
• High school websites
• Parents’ employers
• Students’ employers
• Many more suggestions are found in my ebooks

Students need to apply SMART and impress the judges!

Winning Tip:  Students don’t always have to be a member of an organization or club to apply for the offered scholarships. Many people don’t know this and skip over these awards. (Which results in less competition!) Two of my boys won scholarships from area clubs and we are not members. One was from the Elks, and the other was from the Eagles. They applied SMART!

Always read the scholarship guidelines carefully and add the award to your list if you or your students are eligible to apply.
