College Scholarship Tip: Say Thank You!
This college scholarship tip will help students finish the process when they have won money for school. It’s important and the right thing to do!
You won a scholarship, congratulations! You are not quite finished though.
Don’t forget to say thank you to the people or organization that provided the scholarship money. A nice, hand-written thank you note sent to the same address that the scholarship application was sent to is a wonderful way to show the judges and business owners how much their scholarship money means and how it will help relieve the financial burden of college, even if the amount was only enough to cover textbooks.
If the scholarship won was an online submitted scholarship, make the time to do a little digging to find the address in which to send the thank you note.
This can often be found on the award letter that came in the mail declaring the student the winner. Still can’t find the physical address?
Call or email the company using the information found in the “Contact Us” section of the website.
Every little bit of scholarship money won helps, and taking the time to say thank you is the right thing to do!
In addition, I have heard directly from scholarship winners who have taken this tip a step further by saying thank you again a year after winning their scholarship money, updating the sponsoring organization of their progress in school, and asking politely if the award can be renewed.
It never hurts to ask and may just result in additional scholarship dollars!
I would love to hear about the scholarships you or your students have won, so please share in the comments section below and thank YOU for visiting my website!
