SHOULD STUDENTS INCLUDE A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP RESUME WITH THEIR APPLICATIONS?
Absolutely! How can a college scholarship resume help?
A scholarship resume gives the scholarship judges a quick insight into YOU and your accomplishments.
It should be a one-page, neatly typed look at your achievements, with the most current ones listed first.
Your scholarship resume is one more way for you to let yourself shine in the eyes of the judges, so don’t hold back!
List your community service involvement, awards you’ve won (school, clubs, church, etc.), work experience, and any other achievement that makes you proud.

Another reason for taking the time to put together a scholarship resume is it allows the judges to see more of you than they would see if you had only filled out the scholarship application.
What if there was no spot on the form for you to show that you have volunteered for the last five years helping children at your church’s vacation bible school?
List it on your scholarship resume, and you have now shared with the judges a little more about who you are.
Make sure that your resume for scholarships has your name, address, and phone number neatly typed at the top of the page. Don’t make it more than one page!
Use an easy-to-read font (Ariel is a good standard one) that is not too small.
Trying to squeeze more information by using a smaller font will backfire on you when the judge who forgot his glasses gets frustrated while trying to read your scholarship resume.
Carefully select which information you would like to include and make sure your most important accomplishments make it onto that one very important page about YOU, the potential scholarship WINNER.
Be sure to read this post for a complete list of what to include on a scholarship resume.
Another important reason for students to create a scholarship resume is to hand a copy to each letter of recommendation writer to get a much stronger and more detailed letter. More on this HERE.
