Don’t Text and Drive College Scholarship

Students today are very distracted and not texting and driving is a challenge. How about a college scholarship for helping others with the Don’t Text and Drive College Scholarship?

[2023 Edition]

Don't Text and Drive College Scholarship

Students love texting and students love driving. Unfortunately, students that choose to text and drive are putting themselves and others at risk. In a matter of seconds, lives can be changed and tragedies can occur.

Students, Don’t text and drive! Instead, apply for the don’t text and drive scholarship from Digital Responsibility.

College scholarship-searching students should jump on the opportunity to win money for school and become more aware of the risks of texting and driving with the Don’t Text and Drive College Scholarship from Digital Responsibility

Here are all the details:

  • $1000 scholarship award
  • Open to high school, college, and grad students with no age limit
  • Open to U.S. citizens and legal residents
  • No GPA or income requirement (although GPA is shared on the application)
  • 140 character personal statement makes up the heart of the application
  • Online only (Be sure to read Crucial Tips for Submitting Online College Scholarship Apps)
  • No other extra materials are required, 10 finalists will be asked to write a 500-1000 essay
  • Deadline:  September 30

Winning Tips:  The main focus of the Digital Responsibility Scholarship application is the personal statement that must be written in 140 characters (not words) or less. Students need to share a strong, believable, and personal statement that succinctly embraces and finishes the prompt “I pledge to not text and drive because…”

Be sure to watch this short (one minute!) video on how to write a stronger college scholarship essay.

Articles pertaining to texting and driving from Digital Responsibility can be found here and should be carefully read. 140 characters is not a lot of writing to answer such an important question, so students can write several statements and then have a trusted adult read them over and help sort out which ones are the most memorable and complete.

Grammar is still very important when writing short scholarship statements and students need to be careful about using abbreviations in which the judges might not know the meanings. (Use Grammarly – it’s FREE!)
