When to start the college scholarship process - READ NOW!

Here is a $1000 college scholarship that can be applied for in less than an hour, so don’t miss this one!

The Gen and Kelly Tanabe College Scholarship allows students to write a quick 250-word essay, use an essay they have previously submitted for another scholarship application, or submit one they have written as a school assignment.

Here are the details:

  • Open to students in 9-12th grade, college students, and grad students (regardless of age)
  • $1000 scholarship award
  • Students must be legal U.S. residents
  • Online essay only scholarship of 250 words or less
  • No GPA requirement
  • Merit-based, no financial need requirement
  • Deadlines:  December 31 and July 31

Winning Tips:  The Gen and Kelly Tanabe College Scholarship is a simple, straightforward scholarship with no extra materials required. Students write an essay on one of three topics:  Explaining why they deserve to win the scholarship, describing their academic or career goals, or any topic chosen by the student, including an essay that was used for another scholarship application or as a class assignment. (How awesome is THAT?)

All of my winning scholarship strategies are revealed right here >>

The essay needs to be 250 words or less.

This means that students need to pack as much meaningful information as possible into the essay without going over 250 words and without wasting valuable space.

Beginning the essay with a hook is especially important for this scholarship and a great way to quickly grab the judges’ attention. Learn about this method here.

Gen and Kelly Tanabe have written 11 books on college admissions and scholarships, including the book below, which I highly recommend as a tool for finding college scholarships.
