Winning Tips:  Students need to keep in mind that this scholarship is awarded from a travel company and use the essay questions to get creative and use travel, hotels, and anything to do with tourism to impress the judges.  The judges are looking for “students whose responses are the most persuasive, compelling, and well-written”.  Answering the essay questions completely is always important, as well as grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  Students need to write their essays using a writing program and then copy and paste them before submitting the online scholarship application, rather than writing directly into the app to avoid any loss of information.  Beginning each essay with a hook (more about that here) will compel the judges to want to read each essay portion.  You can also find winning scholarship essay tips here.  Students need to share personal details and create a story with their writing, all the while remembering the sponsoring company, HotelsCheap.org, and what they represent.  Background info on HotelsCheap.org is found here.
