  • Application due date is March 1 (Opens on February 1)
  • There are different winners chosen each year with awards ranging from $5000-$15,000

Winning Tips:  The heart and soul of this scholarship opportunity is how students have dealt with the loss of a parent or guardian emotionally and financially, with a focus on a lack of life insurance. The scholarship provider is a non-profit organization that seeks to educate people about the importance of life insurance and other insurance programs. Read the Life Lessons mission statement and become familiar with it by clicking here, making sure to bring the key points into the essay or video.

Life Lessons wants students to share how a loss of this magnitude has impacted their college plans and how the lack of life insurance (either by having none at all or an inadequate amount) has hurt the financial situation of the family. There is a great page dedicated to sharing the videos and essays of past winners here, so be sure and take some time to watch and read to get a feel for what kinds of students the scholarship judges are looking for in their scholarship recipients.
