The MathMovesU Award is a middle school scholarship opportunity!

College is increasingly so expensive that parents and their students are desperate to find ways to help pay for it. I helped my son win over $100,000 in college scholarships and want to help you too. How did I do it? Read my story here.

Helping ease the burden of student debt, one college scholarship at a time. ~Monica Matthews~

The MathMovesU Scholarship is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who are U.S. citizens or legal residents.

Here are the details:

  • Applicants create a PowerPoint submission showing the importance of math in the world around them.
  • Presentations must address “How math moves you or the world around you.”
  • Include representations of real math equations related to the prompt
  • Prove the work is created by a middle school student by providing verification from a math professional
  • Download and complete the application with parent or guardian signature
  • Submit a hard copy, CD, or flash drive to the scholarship address provided on the application
  • Deadline for submission is February 7

Up to 150 awards of $1000 will be granted to the winners. This money can be saved for college or used to pay tuition and fees for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) summer camp. As an added bonus, $1000 will be given to the recipient’s school to be used for math-related programs.

Winning TipsScholarships for middle school students are not nearly as popular or as easy to find as traditional scholarships for high school or college students, so there will be much less competition. This means a much better chance of winning for the student who loves math and works hard on this scholarship. Math and the love of math should shine through each part of the PowerPoint presentation with lots of equations and examples that answer the prompt, “how math moves you or the world around you.”
