Happy October!  School is in full swing and students are starting to think about college visits and applications.  Parents are looking into the cost of college tuition, housing, books, and all the fees that go hand in hand with having a college student.  Scholarship money is out there and if you start NOW, winning free money can have a huge impact on the high cost of college and the possibility of graduating with a lot of student debt.

To get you started on your scholarship searching, I found several websites that list scholarships with October deadlines.  Parents, you can partner with your student and help them find scholarships that they qualify for by checking out each award and creating a list to work from.  Be sure to note deadlines, materials required, and essay subjects.  This is exactly what I did with my son and he graduated from college last spring 100% debt-free!  You can read more about my story here.
