ScholarshipRed: The College Scholarship for Redheads
I have red hair, can I win a college scholarship? Have you heard about ScholarshipRed?
ScholarshipRed is a college scholarship designed just for redheads. This $500 scholarship award is open to students who meet the following criteria:
- Natural Redheads
- Live in the United States
- G.P.A. higher than 2.5
- High school juniors or seniors
- Will attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college
To apply for the ScholarshipRed award, students must electronically submit (email) two pictures of themselves. One must be a childhood picture, the other a present-day picture. Also required is a copy of high school transcripts, information about the college the student plans to attend, and a creative piece.ย
The creative piece is something the student has designed that best represents what it means to them to be a redhead.ย
The submission deadline for the ScholarshipRed scholarship is April 15. (Please double-check this date, as it changes yearly.)

Winning Tips:ย The heart of this scholarship application is the creative piece. Submissions need to be unique and meaningful. They can be a drawing, YouTube video, funny story, academic essay, or an experience directly related to being a redhead and what it personally means to that student.ย
The guidelines say, “The more creative the better, but there is no wrong answer.” Carefully read what it says under the word, “Apply”, as this is the mission of this scholarship organization, and students need to share what it personally means and bring it into the creative piece. Find out how to use an organization’s mission to win more scholarships in this post.
Academic standing is important, but most of the judging will be done based on the creative piece.
