College Scholarships for Gamers – Video Game Esports Scholarships
Scholarships for gamers probably sound like a dream come true for the majority of today’s teens, but the good news is that they definitely do exist!
Here is a list of gaming scholarships, but do not apply for any award until you have learned the S.M.A.R.T. strategies found in How to Win College Scholarships.

Scholarships for Gamers – Esports Awards
If the deadline has passed for the current year, put it on your scholarship list to apply for next year. Use the Scholarship Toolkit Organizer to become as organized as possible throughout the entire scholarship process.
Open to all U.S. high school and college students with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
Award Amount: $2000
Open to students around the world who are at least 16 years of age. To enter, students (you or your team of two to four) must create an innovative, accessible, groundbreaking, and appealing software program built with Microsoft tools and technology.
Award Amount: $50,000 to $100,000
Open to students who identify as women intending to pursue or working as an early professional in a tech career in game development including: art, animation, programming, and engineering.
Award Amount: $2500
Video game-loving students may also be interested in joining robotics teams such as FIRST Robotics.

Entertainment Software Association (ESA) Foundation Scholarships
The ESA Foundation has several scholarships available to students. Check the website for the guidelines and eligibility requirements for each award. The scholarships are hosted by Kaleidoscope, a free scholarship platform, and students must create an account in order to apply.
Award Amount: Varies
National Videogame Museum Scholarships
There are six different scholarship opportunities available to high school graduates and undergraduates pursuing careers in gaming or technology-based fields. Three of the five scholarships are limited to Texas residents, but two are open to women across the country.
Award Amounts: $2000, $5000
Warner Bros. Reach Honorship Program Scholarships
Warner Bros. Discovery awards Honorships, internship-scholarship packages, to graduating high school seniors passionate about the business of media and entertainment. Honorship recipients should have an interest in careers within the corporate and studio side of the entertainment industry ranging from traditional business functions, such as finance, human resources, operations, marketing and communications, to more technical or creative roles such as content development, post-production, sound editing and games.
Girls Make Games Scholarship Fund
Open to High School Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors! APPLY NOW HERE
Open to U.S. college-bound high school seniors who identify as a woman or non-binary person. Students must show an Interest in pursuing a degree in a field related to video game development. (Animation, Interactive Media Design, Game Art, Game Design, Sound Production, Computer Engineering, Digital Arts, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Development, etc.)
Award Amount: $10,000 ($2,500/year)
There are several scholarship opportunities open to students pursuing careers in various sections of the gaming industry.

The RIG Future Academy Scholarship (May not be open for 2025)
Open to high school seniors and current undergraduate and graduate students in accredited U.S. colleges and universities who reside in the United States.
Award Amount: (3) $5000
Betty Stevens-Frecknall Scholarship
Open to full-time university students pursuing an academic degree in an information technology field. (A declared computer science/CIS/MIS/IT major)
Award Amount: Varies
NOTE: Many engineering and STEM scholarships are open to student gamers who are pursuing majors in those fields.
