Social Media and College Scholarships
Social media and college scholarships go hand-in-hand. Students who use social media wisely are the SMART ones!
I have a very important question for all of you:
Are you proud of your Facebook page and/or Twitter (X) tweets?
ALL of them? How about Instagram pics? Snaps?
Yes, think hard. This includes pictures you have posted, pictures your friends have posted and tagged you in, and random tweet thoughts that you assumed no one important was reading.
Now, think about this. College admissions officers and scholarship judges have admitted to searching a student’s social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) to learn more about them.
More importantly, to find out if there is anything NEGATIVE about them that would make or break an admission or scholarship decision.
It’s the truth, and students NEED to know and understand the importance of creating and maintaining a clean and positive online presence that they would invite their grandmother to read. (AKA “The Grandma Test“)
