[2022 Edition]
After all, even zombie fans need money for college!
The Zombie Apocalypse College Scholarship is a $2000 award to the student who most impresses the Zombie Scholarship Committee (what I wouldn’t give to be on THAT committee…) and meets these guidelines:
- Open to legal U.S. residents
- Age 14 or older
- Current college students or planning on enrolling no later than the fall of 2027
- Best submission of the 250 words or less essay prompt
Essay Subject: “Imagine that your high school or college has been overrun with zombies. Your math professor, the cafeteria ladies, and even your best friend have all joined the walking dead. Flesh out a plan to avoid the zombies, including where you’d hide and the top-five things you’d bring to stay alive.”
The Zombie Apocalypse Halloween Scholarship is submitted online only and ends October 31 at 11:59 pm, EDT.
Winning Tips: There are no GPA requirements, transcripts to send, or letters of recommendation to collect for this scholarship application. That means your essay is everything for the judges to go on.
Be creative, different, and original, and follow the essay subject exactly as it is written. Use the scholarship essay tips found here to write a powerful essay and make sure you are applying SMART.
Scholarship success occurs when students learn how to apply using S.M.A.R.T. strategies to stand out and impress the judges.
It is not IF students apply, it is HOW students apply that separates the winners from the losers.

Oh my goodness, I LOVE This!!! Esp timely for me since my hubby and I just watched the last episode of Season 7 GoT last night!!! Will def have to have my girls revisit this one when they are older – I can only imagine the sorts of things they would come up with!!!
It is certainly a really fun scholarship! 🙂
Told them about it at dinner the other night. They love the idea. Told them to get cracking on their essay ideas – at 8 and 6, they have VERY active imaginations, so they’ve got time to polish those ideas lol!
They sound amazing!
Hi Monica,
Thank you for the scholarship info. My daughter wrote an essay for this Zombie Apocalpse but the link keeps sending us to a Unigo website to register and won’t allow us to because every email we use to sign up it says that there is already an account with that name. (we’ve tried 3 different ones so far) Do you have a link for the actual submission site and not just Unigo? Thanks for your help. She worked very hard on this and will be so disappointed if she can’t submit it correctly on time.
Thank you
Hi Colleen, this scholarship is hosted by Unigo, so there is no other way to submit it. I would use the contact box here to get ahold of them and tell them what is going on with your daughter’s account. If they don’t respond in a few days, let me know and I will reach out via social media on your behalf.
